Ilse Plume is a collector and illustrator of children's songs and folk tales from around the world. Her first book, The Bremen Town Musicians, was a Caldecott Honor book for 1981.
She has since created many other beautiful works, including The Twelve Days of Christmas. She has illustrated books by Jane Langton, Nancy Willard, and Charlotte Zolotow. Her most recent book is Saint Francis and the Wolf. She is currently working on a series of frog illustrations including artwork for a national Middlesex Bank promotion.
